Michael graduated as a solicitor in NSW in 1965 and then in WA in 1966.
He joined the firm of Robinson Cox in the same year, became partner with that firm, and in due course senior partner of its successor Clayton Utz. After working as a consultant at Sceales & Co, Michael joined Leaker Partners as a senior lawyer, where he maintains a practice in wills, estates and succession matters.
Michael is known for his practicality and attention to detail, assisting his clients with accessible documents and a conciliatory approach where necessary. His mission is to be a sound and understanding lawyer to people in need of estate planning advice and the management of deceased estates, and he champions the use of plain language in the law.
Michael has been Deputy Chairman and Director of the Telethon Kids Institute and Chairman and Director of the Eye Surgery Foundation.
Michael has a family of three adult children and five grandchildren. His other passion is golf and the course upon which he plays.
